Underneath the Hunters Full Moon

"When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandise the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something's suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful." Barbara Bloom.

Underneath the Hunters Full Moon.
I crouch cramped freezing around the smoking fire.
My drum skin taught tight
Only a harsh sound will it rasp.

Unsettled Souls entangled in their fright fight
Against the night.
I share the hurt of my heart for a mother's love.
For me. For herself.

So this is love.
Grief that was never allowed
Until now.

No longer wishing to be haunted
It is time to forgive.
And so I am my mother's daughter.
I am me. Not her.

Underneath the Hunters Moon.
I am the Hunter and the Hunted.
I am lips parted baring teeth white
Sharpened by the night.

Kew Gardens

Spring

Bumble bee drunk
collide into flowers
Body drench with pollen.
Queen Wasp Jaws snap
Stripping wood for her new nest .

Song

drink in the waters of life
swim in the ocean of blood
to rise
fall
to fly so deep
in fire
towers burn white
wings beat inside thunder
break open
heart
bones
shatter to the wind
angel dust

Cadair Idris

And so I return, once again from the mountain lake formed from ice.
To drink in ancient memory.
To listen to the Song
Distant soft thunder like bees.
To drink in the nectar of a million stars.
Birthing and dying.
To see the depths blue black dive into Sky.
To touch the light swimming buried deep
reflecting so bright above.
To stare into the guardians bright yellow Eyes
Masked white by sea bird face.
At once fierce clear and soft, paddling on the water or soaring in the clouds.
In sky's clear blue or sharp black with rain.
Their calls cry shot arrow from the winds.
To shelter beside tender violet flower heads, barely nodding
Silently solitary sheltering in the edge.
I wake alive
Skin to earth
Bone to stone.
Breath to water.

Journey to the Moon

Blanket of snow on ground, sky,

White grey wrap muffling noise.

So stilled, quiet, ready to feel.
Creaking scratch of my eyes.

Heavy in body I arrive.
So this is me remembering childish wonder

How cold is it in space?
Is it colder than the Arctic in midwinder?

Then I remember we walked on the moon and survived.
And didn't die of the cold. Or die of the wonder.

That's if you believe we did actually go to the moon....

His body iron me cold ~ skin to wall
swollowing his cigarette ash whisky gin

above his engine noise ~ city seagull calling the sea
I remember I once had wings

and then I fly
my heart broken open

blood on the floor
salt tears for this earth

Can you hear me raining
my cup is full
and I am dancing on the rim

Saturday, 12 June 2010

From moment to moment
I am waiting

for something to happen
*
to wake up from this dream
and
live this life
*
while I hear voices
stolen
brutally
dare I
breathe happiness
*
must I dream to forget

or must I live
to remember
*
and so I remember
every mother
gave birth to us all
*
daring to live
this life
given

Wounded Angel ~ Emily Young 2003 ~ Kew

*
And the Angel loved us so much
His wings burnt as his passion and love for us grew
As he fell.
Knowing that as deep as he sang
Into our hearts of the earth.
The nearer we were to remembering our own wings
Beating so close to our beloved.
As we look inside we come alive to the night.
As we look to the night we come alive to the light.
As we look into the earth we remember the star burning bright.
In our hearts
My beloved.
We are all Wounded Angels

Dancing with muddied Feet

Himself ~ by Brian Froud
*
"The living bond between all life, Himself is
the breath that moves, the atom that dances,
and his magic is in pure being~living Loving.
He has the magic of procreation , of dancing
the spark into being. He is the one who dances
the great dance of life and death.
Dances upon the gate between the worlds
so that the dead may pass beyond.
It is also he who is willing to sacrifice himself
when that is necessary, for the sake of those whom he protects.
Even as our hearts beat within us,
we learn to mediate the life force through
Joyful being and action.
Expressing the power through healing
and love and trust,
we become more like Himself"
P84~85 The Faeries Oracle by Brian Froud and Jessica Macbeth

A friend shared that yesterday she went to a posh party in shoes that she had bought after not trying them on. She had been to shoe shop after shoe shop trying countless shoes. None of them would fit. On arriving at the party she lost her shoes in the mud and went with muddied feet.
I exclaimed that she was a living faery tale.
Where upon I remembered a dream i had when I was in my twenties where I arrived at a posh party and was introduced to Pan who was dressed very smartly like everyone else ~ accept he had not trousers. He was not hiding his fur legs and hooves!
My dear friend also had shared how like me she has felt at odds since a child. Different. I have had dreams of trying in vain to force myself into ill fitting shoes. And as I write this I cannot pass on without being reminded of thousands of women who have had their feet bound...
This is an old poem I wrote in my twenties when I recalled a time I held memories of the Old Ways when I was in a Convent from 7 - 9 years old. I was young and so closer in my memory of the gateway between life and death. I remembered living as a daughter of Himself. Needless to say I did not fit into the Convent way. And this was not the last time I was told by a Christian authority figure that I was under the influence of the devil.

Miraculous Transformation of Our Lady
*
Stone reclusive, built for ten foot giants.
Hidden behind thickly interwoven ivy
Creeping cunning plant with
dark evergreen leaves
*
Seeping supernatural shine.
No light between the gnarled arms
bending into mouths
tasting of deep red earth.
*
A tunnel of conifer and yew smelling thickly
of red fluorescent berries
touching tantalizing the tip of my tongue
Screaming stomach pain and death.
*
"Come along girls'' is lifted from
billowing stiff black skirts.
A chain of grey bobbing hats are
led to a ghostly circle of
*
Silver birch, ash and beech
Sheltering a small crumbling arched wall.
Crouched, solitary a female figure with
pearl white hollow eyes
*
Thin silenced mouth hovers over
stone drapes. Fingers shimmering
then sighing in the silence
I gasp She "Queen of the Faeries"!

To my Arctic Sisters

*
The time for me spent with you all was precious and powerful
where we were mirrored in the land.
*
Where the stars at our feet were light when I fell deep
I feared I would drown in their softness.
Where the white was not white but reflected the rainbow.
Where Spruce trees as black stars
reaching up to twinkling eyes,
draws life from deep in the earth.
Where the sleeping bear dreams
a laugh that rumbled deep in our bellies.
*
Where I could feel thunder crack of ice
as my feet dared to walk naked and bare,
Upon black waters hiding silver flares
and black wings that sliced the blue sky.
Where the stillness held my grief and gave eternity to joy.
Where as I embraced the cold that cut
I connected to our brightest golden star.
Where I fell into a Vast Love.

Song of Earths Heart

Silver blue sky.
Lay this heavy head
down to earth.
Ear to mouth.

Silver face.
Blade peel back memories,
so I can fly.
Mouth to ear.

Up turned beatle, I lie down to relax my legs swimming.
Its a secret but I'll tell you,
this shell is just a coat with strings.
Time to shed.

Leaving Home

Wearing tawny colours
shining gold
Walking into the sun

Sharply turn
eye to eye with a sparrow
Deep in conversation with me

{Must brush up on my sparrow speak}

Coming home

Bleeding belly pulling me
down to earth

I troll up hill
bags of shopping
elongating my swaying arms

Growling into the golden sun setting
Dreaming of steaming sweetcorn and green avoocado

{Today is not such a bad day after all for this sometimes vegetarian troll}

Goddess Litany

She folded into infinity
At the centre and the circumference of all
In the Silence the never ending embrace

In the eyes of new born babes she dances the Song of Elders
Black ashen feet She dances

Rattle bone brittle into dust
Stars of pain and joy

With dew from her tongues she forges your heart
Burn smoulder sharpened carved
You bright flame the first born
Black as the innocent

Dancing in the Sky

I am your desire

Light in your hand
Dancing in the sky

Dust of stars my throat burbling springs of joy
Oceans deep with teeth of mountains and
Sharp mirror to your eyes

Sound your longing
That birth you into being
In the cavern of my breast

I was born to desire you

Your kiss burning my heart
Your winged eyes fan the heavens
A thousand suns beating in your veins
Blood of heaven
Blood of earth
Blood of body
Blood of Light
Blood of Life
Blood of Death

Tender Care

Today I walked along the road I have walked many times.
A road where I pass many people who I choose not to notice or remember.
Today I passed a man. His face twisted red raw. His skin twisting turning inside out.
Invisible man. Skinning himself alive.
Tender
Eyes burning. Lost.
This is his life.
This is his breath.
Where is his love?
Whose tender care gazes on his face now?

Long Journey Home

Crazy dancing in my heart
Stone shoes beat

Hill sipping Sun
Golden light
transluscent on pricked up ears
I catch a hare on the run

Clouds hang in the sky

As memory holds
Cold eye of fish caught on the plate
