Bruce Parry presents Amazon / Tribe Songs for Survival
BRUCE PARRY BRINGS TOGETHER MUSIC WORLD’S BRIGHTEST STARS FOR ‘SURVIVAL’ ALBUM

Bruce Parry, star of the BBC series ‘Tribe’ and the forthcoming ‘Amazon’, has teamed up with some of the music world’s brightest stars to create a fundraising album for Survival International, the human rights organization for tribal peoples.
Bruce has worked with producer Martin Terefe on the album that includes KT Tunstall, will.i.am (Black Eyed Peas), Johnny Borrell (Razorlight), Mystery Jets, Jason Mraz, Yusuf Islam, Hot Chip, the Go! Team and Mike Oldfield. In addition, Guy Berryman, Jonas Bjerre (MEW), Magne F. (A-ha) and Terefe have formed a new band specially for the CD called Apparatjik, and recorded a track that will also be used for the end credits of Amazon. Every track on the album is exclusive, and has been written especially for the project.
The first half of the album is entitled ‘Amazon’ and features songs inspired by Bruce Parry’s new series of the same name, to be shown on BBC2 in September. The second half, entitled ‘Tribe’, is a collection of dance/experimental songs which all use samples of tribal music Bruce recorded when living with the indigenous people during the making of his hugely popular BBC show Tribe.
Bruce Parry has spent years immersing himself in some of the world’s most remote tribal cultures. His first hand experience of the threats so many tribal people face to their very survival lay behind his determination to help them. He said today, ‘I’ve got so much from my time with tribal people that I really wanted to do something for them in return. Being able to bring together this fantastic group of musicians seemed like a perfect way of doing that – and it’s been wonderful to see how they’ve been inspired, in turn, by some of the incredible tribal music we’ve recorded.’
Bruce’s new 6 part series Amazon starts on BBC2 on 15th September. The album will be released digitally on the same day with a physical CD released later on 13th October.

Age of Aquarius

"The Aquarian alignment 14th February 2009
We measure our global sense of both space (latitude and longitude) and time (universal time - UT or GMT) from the prime meridian located at Greenwich, England. So we can perceive the collective influence of this momentous astrological event by looking at the alignment from this globally ‘centered' perspective.

At dawn on 14th February the day dedicated to St Valentine, the patron saint of Love, the Moon in Libra enters the seventh house of relationships. And Jupiter and Mars are aligned in Aquarius in the twelfth house of spiritual transformation.
Forty years ago, the intuitive words of a song called Aquarius, brought the dawning of the new age into our collective awareness:

At dawn on 14th February the Cosmos actually embodies this perfect alignment to support our collective manifestation of love and peace and dawning of the Age of Aquarius.
The Aquarian chart of 14th February reveals an incredible concentration of cosmic influences blending with the energies of Aquarius in the twelfth house. Expansive Jupiter and energetic Mars are aligned with the higher purpose of the North Node. The presence of Chiron the wounded healer offers us the opportunity to heal the schisms that have separated us for so long. Neptune emphasizes collective humanitarian movements and the co-creation of social justice. And the presence of the radiant Sun enlightens the entire alignment.

Mercury also in the twelfth house but just beyond the cusp in Capricorn, allies with transformational Pluto to communicate and anchor the Shift throughout our global structures and institutions.

The Invitation

If doesn't interest me what you do for a living.

It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true.
I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul; if you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see beauty, even when it's not pretty every day and if you can source your own life from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure, yours or mine and still stand on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver full moon "YES!"

It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up, after a night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done to feed the children.

It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire with me and not shrink back.

It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

Is it Love or Is It Addiction?

" The key word here is seek. In mature love relationships, we no longer 'crave' unconditional love from our partners. The only time we needed that kind of care was in the first eighteen months of our lives. We no longer need it from others because we are unconditional love. Unconditional love is a state of being that comes from within us ~ and not the other way around. The paradox is that when we stop searching for unconditional love, we are often surprised to find someone loving us just that way. Perhaps it is because when we experience ourselves as unconditional love, we give the safety that invites others to share their love" p104.

"The Way Out.
What can you do if you discover you are in an addictive relationship?
First, remember that most relationships have addictive elements. None of us had all of our needs met in childhood. Our parents, being human failed us at times. Their failures become our weaknesses when we blame them or demand from others what we failed to get.
Second, keep in mind that one some level addictive love is perceived as survival ~ thus, it won't easily be given up.
Third, remember the psychological reasons for your addiction are as unique to you as your fingerprints. Only you can discover what purpose they serve; only you can find what fears keep you from letting go. If you are unable to let go of an unhealthy relationship, or if you find yourself moving from one addictive relationship to another its time to seek outside help.
Fourth, work towards intimacy with yourself. When we know that we are complete by ourselves, we are ready for healthy love relationships. Self-sufficiency and self-knowledge can be the keys to love and freedom.
Fifth, remember that moving from addiction to love is a process. Just as there was a way into dependent behaviour, there is a way out. There is hope. In knowing the difference between addictive love and healthy belonging, in understanding that process, you can learn acceptance of yourself of yourself and others; thus, your chances of achieving fulfillment in love increase" p117

" The romantic notion that urges two 'to become one' sounds ideal ~ but this is impossible in real life, and the concept is neither romantic nor an ideal worth pursuing. We don't have to lose ourselves to be close to another person" p52

"What is intimacy? The word intimacy has different connotations to different people. For some it suggests a profound emotional closeness, a deeply personal connection. For others, it is interchangeable with the word love. For some, it is euphemism for 'sexual closeness', often suggesting illicit overtones.
If we accept Eric Berne's definition of intimacy as a 'profound exchange of thoughts, feelings and actions in the here and now', we expand our understanding of intimacy to potentially include all life experiences....
In moments of intimacy, because of one's vulnerability, one absorbs experience into his or her psyche. Indeed, in early childhood trauma was intimacy. In some cases, the pain of intimacy was so great that we may have promised ourselves never to be that intimate again. Such self-promises close us off to more ecstatic states of intimate love.
In intimacy, then, we are naked and free to reveal the truth of who we are, including our emotional wounds, our fears, our walls. In intimacy, relationships are processes, not perfect products. Intimacy ~ the exchange of thoughts, feelings, and actions in an atmosphere of openness and trust ~ is a profound expression of our identities that leaves us in a euphoric state. Even under healthy conditions, however, the experience of intimacy is a rare and precious gift." p57-58
